About the event

In the run up to Leeds Pride, Building Equality are hosting a networking fundraiser event for local charities TransLeeds and TransPrideLeeds.

TransLeeds is a grass roots, peer support organisation that supports and is run by trans, non-binary and gender expansive people in Leeds and the surrounding areas. They run support groups, social events, a binder library, offer advocacy, and provide training.

TransPrideLeeds is dedicated to uplifting the trans, non-binary and intersex communities. We recently became a CIC with a special interest in arts and media events that promote, give voice to and employ trans people. In November 2024, we're celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the UK's first trans conference at Leeds University by staging a play based on transcripts from the time.We have two amazing speakers lined up who will talk about their experience of being trans in the engineering sector:

  • Karen McShane, Director at Kevin McShane Ltd and Immediate Past President of CIHT
  • Pascale Harper, Technical Head of Process Engineering (Water) at AECOM

This event is open to everyone working in the construction industry, built environment and property sectors regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. This event is free to attend, with food, alcoholic drinks and soft drinks provided. However, TransLeeds and Leeds Trans Pride will be present and it is greatly appreciated if attendees make donations on the evening.
