For Trans Awareness Week 2023, we launched our Trans Allyship Toolbox Talk. The talk celebrates trans joy and discusses how you can be an active ally to the trans community,

Public space is not always, well, public. In the past forty years or so queer, feminist and racial geographies have drawn attention to marked inequalities in access to and safety in public space.
In this recorded webinar we ask:

• What are the key characteristics that contribute to queering public space?

• How do we protect what remains of queer memory in our cities?

• And how do we move beyond the gayborhood towards creating public spaces for all?

 
We also make recommendations for queering public space in order to make it much more inclusive and welcoming for all.
 
Panellists included Mei-Yee Man Oram (Arup, Access & Inclusive Environments Lead), Professor Pippa Catterall (University of Westminster, Professor of History & Policy) and Dr Ammar Azzouz (Arup, University of Oxford, Architect). Our panel was chaired by London co-chair of Building Equality, Mark Bennett and the full report from Arup can be found here.

This LGBT+ History Month, join Building Equality Greater Manchester as they present the Allies Toolbox Talk, which aims to support allyship of the LGBTQ+ community within construction, engineering and built environment.

Our Allies Toolbox Talk is aimed at educating our workforce - to empower colleagues across the industry to become active allies.
