National Executive
Our National Executive and regional committees are made up entirely of volunteers, people who care deeply about creating a more inclusive and diverse built environment industry. We are a people lead organisation, but our members do represent companies from across the country. Together, they are the driving force behind progress for LGBTQ+ equality in our sector.

Want to know who’s shaping our direction and championing change?
Meet the National Executive team, the people leading Building Equality forward.

John Mosuela (he/him)
Civil Engineer at Mott MacDonald
I’m a Civil Engineer at Mott MacDonald with a not-so-secret passion for EDI. This journey started at university, where I helped set up an LGBT+ careers-focused student society and I’ve been saying “yes” to inclusion work ever since.
I went on to reignite the West Midlands region of Building Equality in 2024, building a brilliant, employee-led community with a lot of Pride energy. I’ve recently handed the region over to a fantastic new committee, moved to London, and joined the National Executive. I'm now making the most of London life, getting back into running (often after a frisbee), or enthusiastically debating my favourite London Underground line.

Kacper Pietrasz
Apprentice Engineering Geologist (Level 7) at Jacobs
I’m relatively new to the industry, working as a Level 7 Apprentice Engineering Geologist at Jacobs. Since entering the industry, I've felt completely welcomed and able to bring my whole self to work every single day without judgement. I want to help ensure that every member of the LGBT+ community can feel that way and it's encouraged me to join the National Executive team. In my spare time you’ll usually find me baking, in the gym, drawing or travelling across Europe.

Mariella Branagan (she/her)
Project Controls Engineer at Gleeds
I’m currently a Project Controls Engineer at Gleeds, and have been in Consultancy for 5 years now. I have a creative outlook on like and am an active member in the LGBT+ community as part of the EDI working group in my LGBT+ Choir, and the new Lead in Gleeds LGBT+ Network Group. In my spare time, I enjoy bouldering, singing, video gaming, and going to dinner with friends.

Mark Bennett
Project Manager at Paragon (a Tilbury Douglas Business)
I've been in the industry for over thirty years, working for several Tier One contractors in the London Fit Out and Refurbishment market.
I am very passionate about promoting gender equality and driving LGBTQIA+ inclusion within the industry, volunteering as Building Equality's London Co-Chair and being on the National Executive committee for a few years. I am also Chair of the Tilbury Douglas internal Pride Network and a member of the Better Together Committee with the senior directors of Tilbury Douglas including our CEO, showing a strong commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion within the business.

Steven Adams (he/him)
Transport Planner at Mott MacDonald
I’ve been with Building Equality for the past three years, re-founding and chairing the West Yorkshire region. I’m relatively new to the built environment industry, working for Mott MacDonald as a Transport Planner, but know I can be as out and proud about who I am because of the hard work of the people before me. I’ve just moved to London and stepped up as a National Executive member to continue the good work. When I’m not shouting Bob the Builder at national prides, you’ll find me enjoying triathlons, baking, history, and socialising (yapping hahaha).

Vicky Thorburn (she/her)
Head of People Data & Insights at Buro Happold
I'm passionate about creating workplaces where everyone can thrive as their authentic selves. As a proud nerd, I bring a love of evidence-based change and have a knack for turning numbers into meaningful action. At Building Equality, I've been championing inclusion across the built environment sector for many years, supporting member organisations to drive initiatives that make equity more than just a buzzword. When I'm not advocating for LGBTQ+ representation, you’ll find me lifting weights, exploring new cities, and finding any opportunity to meet new people.
